Death of the Records Keeper

After a short respite the group traveled farther into the depths of the crypt. Eventually they ran into a fork in the hallway. Arath led the way to the left and they found a large room with multiple coffins against one wall. They briefly opened the coffins and found that there were only dead bodies in them. They also found a door that was boarded up. Before investigating that path they decided to check out the other hallway.

Arath led the way again and the party found themselves in a smaller room. There was a table in the middle of the room with a coffin that looked like it was recently prepared and on the far walls there were more coffins. Upon further investigation into the room there was a small office. A black creature looked up from his desk and said “You shouldn’t have come!” Immediately Yosai leaped into the room with the Creature and hit him hard, the Creature hit him with his dual swords in response. Velin created a patch of rough terrain to protect himself and Princess Evelynn from any attacks. Suddenly a big Zombie burst from the coffin on the table and began attacking Arath. Princess Evelynn and Velin began attacking this new zombie while Yosai tried to escape the clutches of the Creature. Yosai was badly injured by the time he got out of the office, and then yet another zombie came out of the coffins on the wall. The Creature, losing his target charged at Arath and surrounded him with the table zombie. Together they beat Arath down and he fell unconscious but was still taking damage. In a miracle he rose up again and healed a third of his health! In revenge, Arath stepped back and blew a mighty Frost Breath on his attackers, making them severely worse for wear. Velin let out a mighty Magic Stones attack and felled the table zombie. Princess Evelynn then let a Two Fanged Strike go and killed the Creature. Then the zombie from the wall came forth and attacked Yosai and he fell unconscious. The zombie then moved through the difficult terrain to attack Velin while dodging many attackes from the party. Eventually the zombie was felled.

While the party healed, Arath and Princess Evelynn searched the room for materials. There was a chest full of all the records of the crypt, the people who had been there for many years and those scheduled to go there at death. In between some of the files was a key. The party took the key and will look for its owner after another short rest.

Trapped with the dead

A few years after the goblin siege and raid, life in Coril was beginning to become normal once again. However, not all was going well in the world. A group was summoned by the town council to deal with a pressing matter. A local farmer’s daughter had gone missing. Worse yet was that she had been seen playing around one of the crypts that were filled after the goblin raid. The party took some of their gold and invested in torches before descending into the crypt, knowing that no one had been down there in a while and it was going to be dark.

A Hard Start

As the party ventured into the crypt, it was apparent more light would be needed. Yosai took charge and lit a torch. He then lit an unlit torch on a nearby wall, providing the party with a fixed source of light. The heard crying coming from nearby, and it got louder as they ventured down the entrance hallway. Upon entering an entrance room with pillars the party noticed what appeared to be the lost little girl in a fetal position. Upon seeing the adventurers, she looked up and smiled. The party was taken aback by this gesture and hesitated in approaching the girl. Yosai took to lighting two nearby torches. The girl cried out for them to help her, and mentioned that she was trapped there by the monsters. Evelynn took to exploring the room a bit, and Arath headed towards the little girl to begin her rescue. As Arath approached her, she stood up and called out, “You shouldn’t have come here” and then disappeared. A crack was heard from the entrance way as the door slammed shut. A mist rolled through the room and when it cleared zombies had appeared behind the pillars in the room. The fight started with the zombies rushing at Yosai and Velin attempting to grab them. They dodged and retaliated. Evelynn was out of position and a zombie came up behind her and grabbed her and pulled her into the unlit portion of the room. The fight raged on with the party dropping the zombies one by one. Arath used his dragon breath to make a good hit against two of the zombies, sending one back to its grave. Yosai, thrust his rapier into into a few zombies, felling them. Velin, took to throwing rocks and turning into a snake to fend off the zombies. Evelynn was nowhere to be seen and tried to shoot arrows back into the fight, but was quite subdued by her zombie captors. Eventually Evelynn fell, and so did the last of the visible zombies. The party then ventured forth to rescue their taken comrade. They found Evelynn unconcious on the ground with a zombie standing over her. They engaged the zombie and made it pay for the damage is had done to their friend. The party then retreated back to the entrance way to rest and recover from their first venture into the crypt.

The Goblin Mill and Siege

The Mill

After their short break from slaughtering the outside of the camp the adventurers entered into the wood mill at the north of the camp. Upon entering, their vision was blurred by a cloud of sawdust and the door closed and was barred behind them. When the dust settled, before them stood 5 goblins who did not seem pleased with the trespassers. Helauri charged into the middle of the group of goblins and used his dragon breath to gain some initial traction against them. Angry at the Dragonborn who charged them, the goblins retaliated against Helauri and made him regret his initial haste to fight. Arath joined Helauri on the front lines. Evelynn and Darel began firing a volley of arrows into the small green creatures, and turned them into pin cushions. Darel, eventually gave up his archery and charged in with his mace. The goblins moved up onto the small raised platform and began fending off the oncoming melee combatants. The leader goblin raised his rod into the air and the sawdust in the room began swirling about, creating a new fog to hinder his foes advance. The fight became a mess of combatants on the platform, with a massive flank-fest going on. A blow was landed on the leader, causing him to become bloodied. In a rage he yelled at his useless followers, and they made an attempt to save themselves from his wrath. The other goblins moved into and killed Darel in one fatal attack, taking him from just above bloodied to dead, with a couple of arrows. With both sides fighting for their lives, the fighting raged on. A few attacks connected with Helauri and caused him to drop to the ground unconscious. Arath, landed a fatal blow onto the leader of the goblins. The goblin died telling the party, “This camp was only getting resources for the real goal. With my death, your town will be no more.” No longer being forced to fight, and valuing their lives the other goblins fled the mill.

The Siege

After leaving the mill the party wanted to return to Coril to warn them of the danger of the goblins. However, they found that their horses were missing and were going to have to walk back to town. Evelynn took point and kept the party from finding any rogue goblins that were wandering in the forest. Helauri and Arath carried many of the spoils and used their training to force march through the day. When the group came across a lone goblin blocking their path, Helauri burst from the bushes and sent the goblin running in fear. Finding a unused sewer access to the city the group returned to Coril and joined the guard in fighting off the goblin invaders. When the battle was over, much of Coril and it’s people had been destroyed.

The rise of the goblins, was unlike goblins and caught the attention of the other planes.

The Adventure Begins

The Goblin Camp:

The Request:

The elders of the town of Coril had recieved reports from the farmers and woodsmen of the outer regions that goblin sightings had been on the rise. When a report came in that smoke was seen on the horizon, the council decided to act. Arath, Darliciedin (Darel), Helauri Brighscales, and the self proclaimed princess Evelynn met the call of the council and ventured forth to deal with the goblin menace.

The Camp:

They took horses from the town, and rode a few hours out to where the smoke was seen rising. Coming upon the camp the group took note of the clear cut trees that surrounded what appeared to be a small fort. As they approached the camp it appeared the be abandoned, but there were signs of recent activity. When Evelynn took a few steps into the camp she spotted some goblins hiding behind a log. Quick to her wit she fired off a volley of arrows and one pierced into the heart of a goblin sending it to its grave. Boldly charging in Arath engaged another goblin that had managed to keep itself out of sight, the fight was long with both sides deftly dodging each others blows. Arrows began whizzing down from the tower in the middle of the camp flying indiscriminately until their sender saw Evelynn picking off his friends. Helauri joined Arath in fending off the large goblin, landing a clean blow with his initial engagement. Darel made use of his longbow and joined Evelynn in launching arrows at the goblin prey. After a few seconds of fighting, out of tents to the East burst more goblins, ready to join the fray. The four goblins made a rush for Darel and made him feel the ends of swords. Darel drew his morning star and sunk the spiked ball into the head of one of the new goblins. Helauri broke off his engagement with the larger goblin and came to the aid of Darel to fend off the new foes. Arath wanting to gain an edge on his large goblin foe, let loose the breath of his race sending a chill down the goblins spine. With the goblins on the ground disposed of, it came time to deal with the goblin firing arrows from the tower in the middle of the camp. Arath scaled the ladder to deal with the foe and begin using his battle axe to cleave the foe. Helauri used his divine mark to make the goblin question its targets. Evelynn and Darel launched arrows into the goblin from below. From within in an inch of its life the goblin and Arath traded blows, and Darel fired one more arrow to end the goblin.

The adventurers took a break to recuperate before exploring the large building at the north of the camp.
